At Alma Tranquila Holistic Wellness, we offer public classes for both adults and children, private instruction, at your location or ours, and specialty workshops & events.
Our shala is open to students of all ages and all levels of experience. Fancy pants and perfect poses are not what we are about. You can expect to find empowerment, mindfulness, and transformation on and off the mat when you join us.

Restorative/Yin/Yoga Nidra ~ 75 min|Drop In $15/Residents $10

This is the class for those new to yoga or for the chronically unflexible. A meditative experience for both the mind and body, restorative yoga poses require LITTLE OR NO MUSCLE EXERTION; each pose is held for several minutes with or without the use of props (blankets and blocks).

Without the distraction of constant movement and muscle engagement, your connective tissues have the opportunity to stretch and release. You will receive intentional guidance during the class to notice any thoughts or sensations arising in your body; this is practice of silence and stillness.

This restorative/yin class will include a guided yoga nidra meditation. Yoga Nidra is the practice and art of Yogic Sleep. You will be guided through a detailed meditation that will allow your mind and body to slip into a deep state of relaxation.  The brain will switch from beta to alpha waves, signaling the transition from activity to meditation. Receive deep rest and restoration in this extremely healing practice. Participants leave feeling grounded, well rested, and nourished; with a new cultivated awareness. No yoga or meditation experience is needed and all levels are welcome.

Esta es la clase para aquellos que son nuevos en el yoga o para los crónicamente no flexibles. Una experiencia meditativa tanto para la mente como para el cuerpo, las posturas de yoga restaurativas requieren poco o ningún esfuerzo muscular; Cada postura se mantiene durante varios minutos con o sin el uso de accesorios (mantas y bloques).

Sin la distracción del movimiento constante y el compromiso muscular, sus tejidos conectivos tienen la oportunidad de estirarse y liberarse. Recibirá orientación intencional durante la clase para notar cualquier pensamiento o sensación que surja en su cuerpo; Esto es práctica de silencio y quietud.

Yoga Nidra es la práctica y el arte del sueño yóguico. Se lo guiará a través de una meditación detallada del sueño que permitirá a su mente y cuerpo deslizarse en un estado profundo de relajación. El cerebro cambiará de las ondas beta a las ondas alfa, lo que indica la transición de la actividad a la meditación. Recibe un profundo descanso y restauración en esta práctica extremadamente curativa. Los participantes se van sintiéndose a tierra, bien descansados y nutridos; Con una nueva conciencia cultivada. No se necesita experiencia de yoga o meditación y todos los niveles son bienvenidos.

Hatha Yoga ~ 75 min|Drop In $15/Residents $10

Classical Hatha is an ancient and holistic school of yoga. Relatively gentle, slow and great for beginners or students who prefer a more relaxed style where they hold poses longer, which helps to bring peace and balance to the mind and body.  Postures are practiced to align, strengthen and promote flexibility and hormone function in the body. You can expect an emphasis on simplicity, repetition, and ease of movement. Full-body relaxation and balance are the goals, as we make a full circuit of the body’s range of motion with standing postures, twists, backbends, forward folds, and hip openers. Hatha can change how we feel not just physically, but mentally and emotionally too. It can enhance feelings of happiness and well being, helping to release sadness and grieving, encourage relaxation and dynamism. Hatha classes provide an opportunity to stretch, unwind, and release tension, providing a good counterpoint to both busy lifestyles and cardio workouts.

Little yogis are introduced to the wonderful world of yoga by tapping into their creativity and imaginations through the use of storytelling, imagery, music, games, breathing and relaxation techniques.

Children learn how to move and stretch their bodies in a fluid yet fun way, imitating animals, places and nature which enables them to develop body awareness, strength and flexibility, core strength and balance.

Los pequeños yoguis se introducen en el maravilloso mundo del yoga aprovechando su creatividad e imaginación a través del uso de narraciones, imágenes, música, juegos, respiración y técnicas de relajación.

Los niños aprenden a moverse y estirar sus cuerpos de una manera fluida pero divertida, imitando a los animales, los lugares y la naturaleza, lo que les permite desarrollar la conciencia corporal, la fuerza y la flexibilidad, la fuerza central y el equilibrio.
